Tayseer Khaled: Israeli Knesset Vote was Expected, Needed appropriate Response

Tayseer Khaled, member of the PLO Executive Committee, member of the Political Bureau of the DFLP commented on the outcomes of the Israel's legislative elections, saying it was expected due to the growing tendency toward extremism and the promises made by Netanyahu, and the ruling orthodox settlers in Israel to deepen Judaization, settlement, racism and ethnic cleansing in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Khaleed added that the free gifts that Netanyahu received before the recent Knesset elections, of which, the US administration’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the occupying State, the transfer of the US Embassy to Jerusalem, the closure of the US consulate in Jerusalem, and recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Syrian Golan Heights, as well as, the shameful normalization of relationship with some Arab countries, and the remains of the lost Israeli soldier, Zakharia Bumil, in 1982 at the Sultan Yacoub’s battle with the Syrian Aarmy, boosted the chances of the Likud and the extreme right to win the Knesset elections.

Accordingly, Khaled asserted that no progress in the political settlement will be achieved through negotiations, and to forget such policy, which was adopted by the official leadership, and to be more unified. He called on the Palestinian people for a comprehensive national dialogue at the highest level in order to agree on a national road map for implementing the National Council’s resolutions, and the Central Councils and the Executive Committee’s resolutions to define the relationship with Israel being an enemy, colonial, racist State. He also called for completely halting security coordination with Israel, and withdrawing the Palestinian recognition of the State of Israel through the cessation of the Paris economic agreement and other agreements signed with the occupying State, and their restrictions, as well as getting  rid of the Israeli population and land registries, and to have our own ones as defined by UN General Assembly Resolution 67/19 of 2012, and declaring national disobedience in the face of the occupation  in order to get our freedom and independence.
