Uzbekistan exports, imports and trade partners

Uzbekistan is the main producer of machinery and heavy equipment in Central Asia. The republic manufactures machines and equipment for cotton cultivation, harvesting, and processing and for use in the textile industry, irrigation, and road construction. This emphasis on making machinery also makes ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy important.

Uzbekistan Total Exports expanded 25.2 % in Mar 2021, compared with a decrease of 38.9 % in the previous month. Uzbekistan Total Exports Growth data is updated monthly, available from Jan 2017 to Mar 2021, with an averaged rate of -1.3 %. The data reached an all-time high of 291.7 % in Dec 2018 and a record low of -68.2 % in Dec 2017. CEIC calculates Total Exports Growth from monthly Total Exports. The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics provides year-to-date Total Exports, FOB, in USD.

In the latest reports, Uzbekistan Total Exports recorded 724.8 USD mn in Mar 2021. Total Imports recorded 2.1 USD bn in Apr 2021, which registered an increase of 34.4 % year on year. Uzbekistan Trade Balance recorded a deficit of 721.5 USD mn in Mar 2021.

In January-September 2021, Uzbekistan exported 217.3 thousand tons of polyethylene to 24 countries for $220.5 million.

The export of polyethylene decreased by 52 thousand tons compared to the same period last year.

During the reporting period, major importers of Uzbek polyethylene were:

  • Turkey – 61.1 thousand tons
  • Russia – 42.9 thousand tons
  • China – 40.2 thousand tons
  • Latvia – 25.3 thousand tons
  • Kazakhstan – 20 thousand tons
  • Ukraine – 14.6 thousand tons

And exported 1.1 million tons of fruits and vegetables for $625 million, the State Statistics Committee reported.

During the reporting period, the country exported 226.5 thousand tons of fruits and berries, 38.7 thousand tons of dried fruits, 113.1 thousand tons of grapes, 26.7 thousand tons of raisins and 14.6 thousand tons of oysters.

According to the committee, the export of vegetables amounted to 593.3 thousand tons, pepper – 11.4 thousand tons and watermelon – 79.1 thousand tons.
