Your NET WORK is your NET WORTH

What if I told you that while education, experience, and skills are crucial, the hidden force propelling you to land a good job offer or close a good business deal remains your Network and your reputation?

By Roula Kmeid
This may seem counterintuitive and surprising to some, and others might disagree. Yet, it holds and is a proven dynamic in today’s business landscape.

Looking back, I genuinely believe that my career growth in full-time roles and freelance projects was ultimately earned through the relationships I have fostered and the reputation I have diligently maintained.

I am neither excluding nor denying the primary need for education as a foundational entry requirement into business. Education and networking are not mutually exclusive; they are complementary forces. True power lies in the synergy between one’s skills and network. Education provides knowledge, while networking provides access to unique opportunities, valuable insights, strategic mentors, and new business relationships. So, how do we establish, expand, and nurture a network?

The friendships and circles you cultivate significantly shape your character, perspectives, and career trajectory from your earliest days in school and throughout your career. As you meet people, move beyond simply collecting contacts and cultivating genuine relationships.

To foster these connections, be authentic, approachable, and genuinely helpful. When nurtured through regular follow-ups, sharing relevant resources, and providing support, these initial connections demonstrate your reliability and genuine interest in others' success, fostering long-term, reliable relationships.

As you grow, maintain healthy relationships and leverage existing connections to expand your reach and remain top of mind.

Network and reputation are symbiotic. A strong network amplifies a positive reputation, while a solid reputation attracts and strengthens your network. Consider it a feedback loop: positive interactions within your network enhance your reputation, leading to more valuable connections.

Similar to how net assets reflect a company's financial strength, your net work represents a portfolio of opportunities and intangible benefits, a passive investment that yields growth. Be your Long-Term Growth Strategist: Approach life with a growth mindset, understanding the power of compounding. Invest wisely to produce highly.
