The first ever Kuwaiti scientific experiment was launched into the International Space Station, a major achievement for the Gulf state.
The experiment was designed by four Kuwaiti students, who were chosen after a competition held by the Scientific Centre, in support of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (KFAS).
Rana Al Nibari, Director-General of the Scientific Centre of KFAS, described the experiment, as a “historic achievement for Kuwait.”
In addition, she expressed pride at the achievement of the students of the Kuwait Scientific Centre, who worked under difficult circumstances this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Scientific Centre and the Orbital Space (a UAE company that provides access to space through CubeSat technology) have coordinated with NASA to help the students, in the field of space science, to fulfil their dream and launch the experiment.
Alina Romanowski, the US ambassador to Kuwait, congratulated the students and told Al Qabas, that Nasa’s launch of a scientific experiment in Kuwait is an achievement and a great example of cooperation between the United States and Kuwait in the field of science.”
