Standard Chartered on Sunday announced the appointment of Rola Abu Manneh as chief executive officer of its business in the UAE.
Abu Manneh succeeds Julian Wynter, who will be retiring following 26 years of service at the bank.
Abu Manneh’s appointment is with immediate effect.
Abu Manneh joins from First Abu Dhabi Bank, where she served as a Senior Managing Director and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking Division for the Abu Dhabi region. She brings a wealth of regional experience and has a proven track record in risk management, strategy and wholesale banking operations and has a deep understanding of the region.
“Rola’s leadership and experience will further strengthen and deepen our client relationships in the UAE and she will play a key role in achieving our aspirations in one of the most strategic markets for the Group. I would like to thank Julian for his significant contributions over the years and I wish him an enjoyable retirement,” Sunil Kaushal, regional CEO for Africa and Middle East, said.
Abu Manneh is a seasoned Emirati banker, having spent the last 25 years in banking and finance. She had held senior-level positions in the domestic and international banking divisions and in wholesale banking.
Abu Manneh holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics & Operational Research from the University of London — Royal Holloway & Bedford New College.
