UAE Climate minister encourages use of Sustainability Platform

By Arthur Blok --

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) is inviting public and private sector entities in the UAE to showcase their innovative solutions on Globally Great (www.globallygreat.com), the leading digital video platform focused on sustainability, innovation and happiness in the Middle East.

His Excellency Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, launched Globally Great, as part of the Sustainable UAE campaign, a year- long nationwide initiative rolled out by MOCCAE to educate the UAE public about sustainability.

The launch took place during the youth climate networking event organized by MOCCAE on the sidelines of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York to enhance the role of youth in achieving the objectives of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
From startups to established enterprises, businesses can upload their sustainability stories on the platform and share their achievements in advancing the transition towards a green economy with the world.

Taif Al Amiri, Director of the Government Communication Department at MOCCAE, said: “I am confident Globally Great will play a vital role in the Sustainable UAE campaign. Seeking to provide an umbrella platform for global sustainability stories related to the UAE, this interactive forum offers players in the private and public sector the opportunity to inspire and learn from one another.”

Stefanie Schachtschabel, Managing Director of Globally Great, said: “The UAE has evolved into a new global hub of innovation and sustainability. Building on its previous milestones, the country now hosts the world’s first digital platform that presents in-house sustainability and innovation stories with the aim of motivating others to follow suit.”

She added: “I invite everyone to visit our website today to explore its inspirational content and contribute to mobilizing impactful solutions on a global scale. We are here to help create and tell sustainability stories in the context of the UAE.”

Globally Great focuses on the three main sustainability pillars: Environmental, Economic and Social. Featuring a seamless and user-friendly interface with daily trending videos, the website enables users to upload their success stories of sustainable innovation under sub- categories such as Climate Change, Clean Energy and Innovative Technologies.

The Globally Great platform, similar to YouTube, will serve as a new tool to globally connect the private and public sectors to showcase the importance of sustainable innovative solutions.

Although uploading inspirational stories on the platform is free of charge, countries, corporations and brands that endorse Globally Great’s mission and vision can also benefit from a premium segment on the website and share their own branded content for a nominal annual fee.
